Zagreb AUDIO VIDEO SHOW 2008
Members of Bosnia Audio Club from Travnik visited 2008 Zagreb`s audio shows. Here is short report.
First we visited smaller Multimedia show,this year held in Miral hotel.There were fewer systems than in bigger Audio Video Show held in Zagreb Sheraton hotel.We went there to hear ALB Black Master loudspeaker to hear what is the fuss all about it. Our reference audiophile CDs were Sinan Alimanovic International Band "Bosnia Groove" and Chen Yue "Chinese Euphony". Fantastic music and fantastic sound.
ALB Black Master were used with Plinius amplifier and Accuphase player. It is a bookshelf speaker,and as such it is very good no own temper,no hardness,dynamics is excellent. 3D staging and positioning is not excellent,but very good speaker. It is 3 way loudspeaker with bandpass woofer,sounds much "2 way" way ( I have personal preference to good designed 2 ways).
Spendor loudspeakers with Naim amplification. Luscious sound.I`d like to listen hard rock on this combination (3 way one).
Ayon audio.Very interesting.This SE tube amplifier sounded very good.Pity we did not have more time.
Colibri Labs 2 way floorstander. This sound made me stop and listen to it little bit more time.Very,very good. I loved it.Meridian player and Sinfonia amplifier with Colibri.I prefered them over Black Master. Slovenian Gallus 3 way bandpass with Scanspeak revelator,obviously Black Master basic philosphy. I think too small room for this revelator loudspeaker.
We had to head to Sheraton next.
PMC is where i went first. I just wanted to hear them again.EB1i and Bryston amplification sounded better (last year was excellent) than last year`s EB1 model. What is that beautiful music and excellent production and sound? Made in China ? Really? Chen Yue "Chinese Euphony" on this system sounded wonderful. This is what I want to have home (except Xing Ying instead of Chen Yue).
Sumic Audio room with Amphion. What is this? Is there a subwoofer behind the curtains? Very good. And counter question - whats that CD? Chen Yue "Chinese Euphony". Does he like Ms. Chen besides her music?
Dali sounded better last year to me with McIntosh.Audio Physics I did not like. Avalon and Audio research - Alimanovic sounded excellent.But here there is no excessive bass tones.Everything very neutral,precise and clean.
And now something completely different. Quad of course. We all want to have this at home. 3A Reference is also great loudspeaker. Miroslav Tadic and Rade Serbedzija "Imam pjesmu za tebe" LP on handmade turntable with Benz cartridge sounded fantastic. When we put same CD in the player it was sheer disappointment. Please press stop and lift down the arm again.
We took a look at some multimedial equipment,though did not have a chance to hear it in proper room,bought few CDs and DVDs and hit the road back to Bosnia.
